Hi,

My little problem is : I've a film in divx format ripped in 2x700Mo and I would like to resize the film in 1x650Mo.

Is it possible to do it directly (without vob) ?

Thank's

There's no trick in doing that, you open the first part, append the other, set compression and off you go. But you will obviously loose *much* in quality so I really don't think you want to do this. Oh, remember to use Direct stream copy for the audio.

thank's for your reply :

about quality, is it better to transform vob directly in divx 1x650Mo or it's similar to do it with the 2x700Mo version ?

My project is to keep 2x700Mo for quality in divx format and transform it when I want to see it on my dvd player in VCD format.
I made tests to try to convert in VCD format : actually I can read it if the CD not exceed 74mn and I would like to try in 1 cd.

So if I can do a "good" (not to bad) quality direct from the version in 2 CD, I keep only it, if not, I have to keep directly the 2 versions ...:(

Actually, when I try with VDub, I don't find parameters (or filter, I don't really know) to reduce the size of final result : it keep its original (more or less) ... I try again and will tell you the result.

(PS : thank's to excuse my poor english to answer you ):(

Since the vobs have better quality, yes do your compress from them, otherwise you just enhance the errors.
And there are resize filters in vDub, just go to Filters and press Add.

Thank's a lot : I'll try it this afternoon and I'll come back with the results.

If by size you mean filesize, you have to change the DivX compression settings to compress more. If you mean frame size, then use a "null transform" filter and set the cropping on it.

the easiest thing to do is go out and buy a 50 pack of 700meg CDRs... they're like $9.00 at Fry's.

won't have to spend a few hours muddling through vdub, nandub or whatever.

i misread your question.

best thing to do is get the dvd, rip the vobs, re-encode it with the proper bit rate in order to fit it into 1x650 or 1x700.

I like using Poopity Poop's guide at http://web.syr.edu/~tjmyers/ripping_home.html

Thank's for these ideas.

I try in VDub to compress but I didn't find which parameter I have to change : I don't see changes (more or less) in the final filesize !
I try to find a filter ... but which one : I found about color, and other image modifications, but not for size.

Could you help me, please ? It's real my english isn't good at all, so it's probably I just misunderstood a help section, or something like that !:D

Have you checked Doom9's guides? There's a lot of good stuff in there. :)

You can start at: http://www.doom9.org/vdub_resize.htm
