View Full Version : I have trubles compressing BLADE

Hi, I start another thread a few days ago, but I don't explain my problem really good.

I'm trying to compress BLADE with DIVX5, DIVX4 and Xvid using GordianKnot with this settings.

Source
Movie: BLADE
Sound: AC3 5.1
Duration: 120 minutes.
FPS: 23,976

Destination
Audio: VBR mp3 (100Mb.)
Bitrate: 706Kbit/s
CDS: 1
Original Resolution: 720x480
Compressed Resolution: 608x256
Bits/(Pixel*Frame): 0.191
Compressibility Test: 48% of 0.395
Resizing: Selected output resolution.
Resize Filter: All Switches.
Field Operation: None.
Noise Filter: All Switches.


Well, I test with almost all settings using 3000 or 4000 frames and I allways get really poor quality until I try using DIVX 3.11 and I get good quality. It suppose that DIVX4, DIVX5 or XviD can get more quality that DIVX 3.

This is not my first movie that I compress, and I dont understand what is happening.:confused:

Could anyone help me???

With ac3 5.1 sound and a resolution like 608x256 you can just go for two CD's for a movie like Blade.
It is quite obvious that divx3.11 will result in better picture in so minor bitrates.
I'd go for at least a 876 MB film taht will fit into an overburned 99 minutes CD.

Hi-
I agree-2 CDs and then you can give it better sound, or maybe use a lower resolution.

One thing I don't understand though. On the one hand you say Field Operation: None. But on the other hand you say FPS: 23,976. It can be one or the other, but not both. Did you mistakenly make your .d2v at 30fps? Or did you make it at 30fps and then IVTC or something? Could that explain the problem-your output is 30fps?
