Couple of questions on the Dvd2Svcd Guide

Im a complete newbie to the area of ripping dvds. But have been learning a lot with u guys. I've understood most of Domm9's guide for Dvd2Svcd, but still have some more inquiries.

1- At the Frameserver Tab: Will I have to check the Audio Resample feature if I'm using CCE 2.64 on Pentium or Athlon.

2- At the Encoder Tab: What Image Quality Priority is best to set? and I really can't find the Bitrate Viewer this guide talks about do I have to get it from somewhere else?

3- At the Matrix Tab: Really dont understand what the options in the dropdown list are for? and would really would like to know why and when to use them?

I personally do not use CCE 2.64.
edit: There seems to be some disagreement about 2.64 among members here. I have never been able to get it to work, but others say they have. Until I actually get it to work I cannot personally recomend it. However I trust the others that say they have. So maybe try 2.64 first and then if it doesn't work try 2.62, but 2.5 is still the first choice for speed.

First choice would be 2.5.
Far behind is the second choice of 2.62. If you use this version you must check safe mode.

edit: I goofed and misread the question originally.
For the most part I would leave it checked as it can't hurt and actually might help. This is one of the items that was thought might fix the CCE freeze issue. I always leave it checked, but you can try it either way. Technically it shouldn't do anything since CCE has nothing to do with the audio the way we use it, but some reports said it fixed the freeze issue.

Leave this at the default of 17 at least until you get the hang of it. For most things the defaults are what you want. I still do my encodes at an Image Quality of 17.
There is a bitrate tab and this is where you place the number of cd's to use and the size etc.. Just remember each section is for the whole movie and not just that length. So the section that reads
76-100 use 2 cd's of 740. Means that if the entire movie is between 76 and 100 minutes DVD2SVCD will create the images for 2 CD's of 740mb's. Each thing is adjustable so if you want it on 800mb cd's then just change it.

This is more for the truly advanced and for people with special needs you are best leaving it alone.


I suggest you take a little time and read the Mandatory Read sticky above and then the Q + A which can be found in the advanced forum. Many of your questions and even ones you haven't even thought of yet are answered there.

DVD2SVCD is a great program that simplifies most things to a very easy level, but it still takes some understanding of encoding basics. I would play with it for awhile not expecting too much at first. Make your burns on CDRW discs so you can erase them until you get the hang of it.

Lastly yes it really does take this long. I have a very fast computer and it still takes over 8 hours to do a normal encode. If you have a slow computer expect it to take 20-30 hours or more.
