Will my subs survive to the bbmpeg cut/merge operation?

Im planning to encode a movie to svcd, 2 audio languages and subtitles to be displayed on stand alone only. I am using I-Author to multiplex the video and 2 audio streams and to include the on/off subs.

My question is: Since i-author dont seems to cut the mpg (to get a 2 cd movie with the 1.4 gig file) im planning to use bbmpeg to get it cut in 2 parts. Will my subs survive to the bbmpeg cut operation? :)

Go ahead and try it and you'll see that bbmpeg won't even accept the .mps file.

The solution is to not use I-Author's multiplexor at all. It is soo incredibly buggy that its for the best anyway.

Use submux instead. If I-Author subs have worked for you in the past then you may want to check "Use CVD Style subs." This is the format that I-Author uses. Once the subs have been inserted into the video stream demux the mpg in TMPGenc and remux everything in bbmpeg using it to cut it into the desired parts. Then use mpgxmps to convert the mpgs to .mps files and then author them in I-Author. I use this method all the time to create subbed svcds.

thanx for the info man! i realy tought that i-author was the bes for that subs operation :confused: So ill encode my svcd (yeah takes over 30 hours here...) and then ill mux as u just described.
