wheni play a thx-trailer as vob file in powerdvd xp i get full real surround sound. But when i mux the same ac3 in an avi file and play this in a powerdvd i just get dolby surround output which is not nearly as good as real surround.
the same in all other directshow based players like bsplayer or mplayer2.
1. does powerdvd also use the directshowfilters for avi playback?
2. is there a directshowfilter which can give me real 4 or 6 channel output? (the normal intervideo and cyberlink filters doesn't seem to have this option. both just have the dolby surround option.
ogg 5.1:
is ther a way to play ogg 5.1 streams with winamp cause the nullsoft vorbis plugin can't handle them. i always get : "can't build secondary buffer".
and with my soundcard (terratec dmx xfire 4channel) i get some strange effects when playing an ogm with ogg 5.1. the front channels are on the front left- and the rear channels are on front right output channel.
will this be fixed in a future release of the oggds filters?
ogg:
is it possible to use the channel coupling feature of vorbis for different languages?
Because a stream in english and for example in german are in most parts the same except the parts with speech. so you would need 4 channels that are together encoded and then the possibility to play only two channels at once and the function to switch to the other two channels of the other languages. that would be for example two front left and two front right channels that are coupled but played seperatly.
This was all i think i'm wondering about at this moment. ;-P thanx for replies.:D
