You have to transcode the movie to a lower bitrate. Guides you can find at the doom9 guides section (dvd & mini-dvd).
Best way is to transcode them with the cce method. There you will get the best quality.
With this way you can easy put two movies in good quality (near to original) on one dvd (with one audio stream).

Its funny you should post that.. i too am doing r2 The Martins.
5.4gig after ripping seems about right.
i ripped out the extras too, i mean if you watched the extras you would rip em too.
I am in the process just now of transcoding the movie .
the main movie starts from vts_01_1.VOB and goes to vts_01_6.VOB.
I am transcoding it in TMPEG encoder using the excellent guides on doom9
the only part i had to figure out by myself is making the dvd2avi project file (which takes a while) and also the TMPEG template file that you use for scene changes (i think) .
For some reason i couldnt use the TMPEG template. it crashes my copy every time, even although the guide says to give it 2 minutes (i gave it 30 min)
anyway it is transcoding now so i will let you know how it turns out.
after transcoding you have then got to re-mux it back into the dvd files.. i think.. hehe

well there is 3 ac3 audio tracks on it ?? not they they use much space..
i guess it is just encoded at a really high bitrate.

ps. does anyone else get a problem with tmpeg crashing when you import the template created by ifoedit ?
mine is like 2.2mb in size .. is that normal ? and the d2v project file is only 360kb
this is the first time i have transcoded something .. (can you tell)

Damn it takes a long time ..
10 hours to transcode this movie using a Dual PIII 800mhz on win2k with both cpu's enabled under envoroment setting in tmpeg ..
ZZZZzzzz....

as ive posted before, i use Cinema Craft Encoder, 1 pass, vbr, excellent quality, about 2 1/2 - 3 hours to encode the main movie at 2 hours in length on my Tbird 1.4

u can get a trial of it, and u can get it, well, you know where...
to get it to read the vobs, u need to run the vobs through DVD2AVI, to get a d2v project file, then u run the VFAPI reader on the d2v file and then import that avi into CCE
(the avi isnt a full avi movie as it is, its just an interface so you can import into CCE)
