Ahoy,
Finally, I have the basic functionality running. I'm doing some additions now (hopefully they work out ;) ) like setting the language of the soundtracks.
I'll post again when I uploaded a working version.
Thanks again for all the help of Tobias and Nic, without them this wouldn't have been possible to implement :)
Best Regards,
Koepi

It is _RELEASED_ ! :)
Well, it somehow still sucks, but the basic task of mux'ing some video+audio can be done :)
Have to talk to Tobias a little more about that language stuff though....
Have fun, find OggMux v0.1 via the link in my signature!

Great - thanks, Koepi. I'll try it out later with the movie I just encoded. No more fumbling around with Graphedit...

Thank you very much Koepi!!!
This was the very first time I muxed an ogm-stream (didn't want to struggle with graphedit) and it worked very nicely with XviD!
I know the app is far from finished at the moment, but if you work on it as hard as you're doing your XviD binaries then it'll just be a matter of days and I can say "bye bye .AVI" forever :)
I guess you already thought about adding these features but they just came into my mind after 5 minutes of using your GUI:
- Automatically add ".ogm" at the end of the filename
- Audio track delay control, based on the "...DELAY -xxxms.MP3" values added by DVD2AVI
Thanks again and keep up the work! :)

I uploaded version 0.2 of the muxer. Now you can choose the languages and even add subtitles (if you have the proper filters installed).

Wow! There's already a new version (v0.2) out at Koepi's site. Looks like it's "binary weekend" again. Let's see how many XviD builds there will be this time... Go, go, go!!! ;)
Koepi
22nd March 2002, 15:37
Hm. version 0.3 will have that "automatically add file extension if no suffix is given".
I'm not sure if I have much more to do ;)
Any further feedback?

In about 20 minutes I'll mux my first full-length movie with it... we'll see (112 minutes XviD+Ogg) :)
One _very_ small bugreport - it's showing OggMux v1.0 in the about window ;)
Oh, and I know this is quite a challenge:
would it be possible to add a "split by size" option?
BTW how much is the muxing overhead for ogm with one ogg vorbis audio stream? Just to know what to select in GordianKnot.
Thanks...

There we go, version 0.3 is up.

- Version 0.3
- The target file name is now generated from the movie source name
- Fixed the "About"-box

urgh.. that's what you get for being too fast.. I already updated my guide with v0.2. How many more versions are planned for today?
@edit: before it starts.. as the next feature I suggest splitting by MB XYZ.. you'll be flooded with requests for that feature pretty soon now that you have finally brought ogm to the mainstream (along with tobias' filters)

I'm getting these errors:
Can't render movie source!
Can't render soundtrack1 source!
It works with Graphedit here though.
Do I have to put anything into the same folder?
I'm using 0.2

I just muxed the 112' movie and v0.3 worked like expected. I really love .ogm by the way! Seeking and audio/video sync is solid as hell!
The muxing overhead for a 700MB movie with one audiotrack is only ~3MB according to my results. :)

@Doom9:
I definatly have no plans on further releases today - and since Tobias' OggCut already works very well I don't see the need for a built-in "cutter" - would take me ages to code that.... (remember, I just do something like replacing the GraphEdit application, and do you know a filter for graph edit which is capable of doing that? I'd need code way lower level for that).
@Beave:
If it works in GraphEdit, it should work with the OggMux as well, can't see what's different there... well, I use auto-connect features of the filter graph API so if you don't have registered filters that handle your files that won't work with graphedit either (always try it this way: insert a FileWrite, insert ogg muxer, connect both, after that simply choose "render media file"....)
@All:
I hope this works well anyways, have to get some experiences with it first (just tested it on one file with an older OggDS version...)
Best regards,
Koepi

Did anyone try to mux subtitles with OggMux yet?
Since I don't have those filters installed i couldn't really test it...
Thanks for the feedback!

Well, same thing with 0.3.
It works when the target file is in the same Folder. If I choose another one, it gives the errors mentioned above.

Ah ok, that's a bug... I have to store the paths as well then, sorry for that (i always mux into the same dir so didn't notice that).
Thanks for your help!

Damn, that looks like a hard limitation of filtergraphs ATM ?!
Even if I use the full path for the render filters, I keep getting that error...
Well, let's see.

I have the latest OggDS installed, the SubTitDS too, and I can't mux my avis and ogg streams:
I got that message "can't render soundtrack1 source" with the french audio, and "can't render movie source" with the english one, then it crashes...
What is surprising is that I just completely reinstall my OS, and GraphEdit crashes too when I try to mux avis and ogg streams, Oggcut too (but not with avis files).
Maybe this comes from the OggDS, but it seems other people do not have problem with it...Any idea ?

@Koepi
thx, now i don't have to use graphedit anymore.
BUT, could you make it demux as well.
Edit: an OggDeMux would be nice

ooh, ooh, i have a request...
Is it possible to parse the vts_xxx_INFO.txt file output by smartripper to put in the chapter positions (as outlined on tobias's ogg page) and titles, and then maybe even provide a GUI for editing them?
I know its a big ask, but just maybe for future consideration.
Thanks =)

Yupp, we had network down for some hours now, god knows why, the "higher level" admins didn't even notice the outage... that happens if you don't make _everything_ yourself ;)
Btw., OggMux 0.4 is on it's way....
no limitation to 3 soundtracks and 4 subtitles anymore, restuctured GUI, cleaned up code.

Ps.: He, now I just need a modified GKnot version that uses the OggMachine for Audio, Xvid for Video and OggMux for the merge *gig* (that would be like christmas when I was a little kid) :D

Thanks for the great tool Koepi :). I've got a (nearly pointless) feature request. Can you add stream tagging for the video as well? I like to use it for the name of the movie. Allowing string lengths up to whatever the DSF supports would be cool too (right now it seems limited to 11 chars) :D .

Great tool Koepi!!!
I've succesfully tried to mux two different divx5 + vorbis files with great success. My findings so far:
* I cant add subtitles. They are in .srt format
* Theres seems to be a bug in the file IO. When I try to mux to an existing file the filesize gets wrong. For example: I have a file "fifth.ogm" which is 710MB. I reduced the vorbis size and remuxed it and it still was 710MB. Then I deleted fifth.ogm and remuxed. Now I got my wanted 703MB file.
* The already known all files in the same directory feature ;)

...just a few problems to solve for OggMux 0.4.
No stream tagging yet, dunno if this will make it into the GUI.
I can only repeat: the tool does the same as GraphEdit. So if you use GraphEdit to remux with smaller files into an existing container, it won't resize it (except that it's larger). It's an "error" of the directshow filewriter.
I guess you'll all like the new GUI of OggMux 0.4, it lifts mainly the number-of-tracks limits it now has.

Koepi

@Koepi: very nice indeed, it's not very important but it seems it doesn't work with long filenames like
vts_01_([0x81]_Audio_Français_AC3(2Ch)_48kHz___)_Delay_-24ms.ogg
just renaming to french.ogg and the pb vanishes.
Thank's for your work
Koepi

Peters:
it works here for me with exactly those filenames ?!?!
maybe it's that french "umlaut" cedille that doesn't get hadnled right (it should be, but you never know...). Try just substituting that letter and mux then, this would be of great help!
Thanks,
regards,
Koepi

Thank's Koepi for your reply
The french cedille is not the pb
I'm using your last version (0.4), OggDS last 0.9.8.8
If the filename is longer than 69 c (69.3) then i got a message error
(Render file error, can't render input file...)
Edit: OS, WinXp

Peters, you sure the problem comes from the too-long filename ?
That would be great if a shorter name could solve my probs :)
I'll try this for my Mononoke ripp :D
Thanks a lot folks :)

Hm, I'm mu'xing using the 0.9.8.6 filterset, maybe the newer versions have those problems.
Does GraphEdit work corrctly when working with those long filenames?

Yes graphedit works with these files.. i see there's a new OggDS version, so i have to try with this one.
Edit: i tried with OggDS0.9.8.6, OggDS0.9.8.9, oggmux 0.3, same pb..
Tomorrow i will try on my office computer (win2k)

Subtitle muxing works good, as I tried couple times.
Playback is bad and choppy, but it is filter issue, as Tobias explained...
New GUI is nice and useful :-)

I know it's childish, but reading 0.9.8.9 gave me a nervous shock, making me think that my browser is unable to update loaded site.
AFAIK Tobias hasn't updated since 0.9.8.8, and I#m expecting the next release to fix some still remaining issues for W98 users as me...
Or do you have secret accesssssssssss ???

AFAIK 9.9 doesn't exist. I also seen Peter's message and immediately rushed up to see if I could find the new version(9.9):)

Matter :)
http://tobias.everwicked.com/
Current version 0.9.8.9 (last modfied 24.03.2002)
History:
Version 0.9.8.9
There was a bug in the memory management which caused sometimes a crash of the splitter or multiplexer
A flag in the media tiype was not set correctly. Therefore all frames were marked as key frames when multiplexing to AVI
I'm using now the intel compiler (ICL). This reduces specially the vorbis encode time dramatically. (On my PC with Athlon 1.4GHz to 50%!)
Thanks to Stefan for this hint.

But it's a minor pb of course.

Ok, first, I'd like to congratulate Koepi for his great job with OggMux: very usefull tool :)
It didn't work with the 0.9.8.6 DS filter, but everything turned perfect with the 0.9.8.9 version :) (my first BivX...sorry, BiXvid ;), the wonderful Princess Mononoke, is ready now), as it is the case for other Ogg tools (OggCut for an example).
I have only one request, so that OggMux would be perfect: could we have a 'delete' button, just as the 'add' or 'edit' one, to correct some bad entries (e.g. japanese instead of french, or so on), cause by the way, i have to close OggMux when i do such a mistake.
That was all.
Thanx for what you all do to make DVD backup even better and free.
Regards
