Mjpeg?

Anyone know anything about encoding Avis with MJPEG? How bout MJPEG2000? Is the codec free? Are there variations of the codec? Thanks.

Hi.

Well Im using The Morgan Mjpeg 3009 encoder and I must
just say that its impressive in speed and quality.

Before I started to use Mogans Mjpeg I used Picvideos
encoder and it had only one flaw and that was in the
bitrate settings. With picvideo you cant specify the
actual bitrate you want to record in, just some strange
settings that range from 20 to lower where 20 is 2000 kbit
and 19 is 666 kbit. ( that sucks ).

With Morgan Mjpeg Encoder you can set the actual bitrate
and the highest Iv tryed is 2350 kbit at that produced an
exellent Avi file with superb quality.

And after that I used TsunamiMpeg encoder to encode it in to
an Svcd file. ( still with superb quality )

Try Morgan Mjpeg Encoder you wont regret it . :D

MJPEG is not meant for being an end-format. It's use is for captureing or similar...

I haven't experienced that the Picvideo is of a badder quality than Morgan MJPEG, but I haven't tried Morgan MJPEG since at least a year.

My advise is to test all you can get, and then see for yourself.

BTW, suberb quality with Huffyuv only ;-) .

those "STRANGE SETTINGS" are the basic of jpeg compression,
if you open the advanced tab, you will see the % too,
where 20 is 100%, 19 is 95%, and so on.
Then you could know what QUALITY your video will be captured at.

jpg 2000 is able to give about half the size of jpg,
but it is SLOW ,dont think suitable for capturing until Pentium4000,
and not free (neither picv mjpg is ;)
