Hi guys!
I'm sorry for the dump questions for I know a lot of people already asked you but nevertheless I need your help.
First of all. If I use dvd2svcd I thought that it is possible to copy the original chapters of the dvd to the svcd. But hell I fear I'm to stupid. Of course I burned the image file to cd. But either WinDVD nor my standalone player can read it. Both handle the movie as one big chapter.
The other problem is the language. I thought that it should be possible to copy two sound files to the svcd and in this way to select the language you like to listen. O.K. I mean with WinDVD no problem, for you can select the sound data but is this also possible on the standalone-player?? I heared that dvd2svcd can handle this problem??!
Thanks for your help!!

First I just want to make sure when you say image that you are selecting the Cue file.
If you still have it open it with notepad and see if there are a bunch of time entries. Those are your chapters. The time will be wrong because it's based on different things, but that is normal.
It all really depends on if your Stand Alone player can handle chapters and multiple audio streams. Check the list at www.vcdhelp.com to see if your player is capable of them.
In general the cheap Chinese/Taiwan players tend to do SVCD's the best while the more expensive Japanese players tend to be the worst.
Try making a test disc using fixed chapters to see if that works.
Try a different piece of software. I personally really like VCDEasy and CDRWIN.
If you have trouble finding out info for your player post the brand and model here.

...or simply download the first of those test images available at dvd2svcd Q&A, which has also a functional menu, and test if it works fine in your standalone.

Yes I'm talking about the cuesheet when I'm talking from the Image. I tried nearly everything. I used VCDEasy I used TSCV and I tried Ulead Movie Factory. But nothing really worked. Is it possible in any way to have two languages on a SVCD and select them on a stand alone player??
Well my standalone player is that one from ALDI. He is called Tevion 2001. It can handle nearly all typs of CDs but I fear it has problems by reading these Chapters.
Thanks for your help so far. Hope You have an idea.

Hi veil,
have you specified two languages in DVD2SVCD's "Audio" tab then?
Have you burned the "foolproof way" like in the sticky above?
Have you searched the vcdhelp compability list for your player to see if it supports 2 languages?
Greetings,

I had a similar problem. Check your "dvd2svcd chapters file.ini" at the end, if it contains any chapter information. If not, you need not worry about your player yet. If it does not contain any chapter information, then you won't get chapters, as far as I can tell. I found the program somewhat sensitive, if you first rip with another ripper...

Hi!
Well I think I tied almost everything. I downloaded the zip-file from dvd2svcd to test my player. But I got the same problem I already had with the svcd's I created with TSCV and VCDEasy. Not even by computer is capable of reading these cd's. I have no idea on what this depends. I burned the cue files with cdrwin but nevertheless something seems to go wrong. I burned the cue file I got from dvd2svcd without any modifications. After I downloaded the latest version of windvd I was able to play this svcd on my computer without freezing the pc. But the chapters were not found by my standalone player. I can choose the language on my computer by selecting the audio stream manually. But hell don't ask me how this should work on the standalone.
I had a look on the vcdhelp.com but I still don't know if my player supports chapters or not. I found the Tevion 2001 in the list and as far as I have intepreted the list right my player should be able to manage chapters.
Hope anyone has an idea for it is not a good solution to go to certain point of the svcd by using the fast forward button. Especially when you get introuble with the sound afterwards.
THX for your help so far. Hope any one can solve my problems.
