tv-out problem [Archive]

I have a problem when I use my tv-out connection.
I´m not that good at english, but I will try to explain.

There are thin black lines moving horisontaly over the tv...
Anyone else had this problem?
I have a Geforce 3 titanium 200.

Something wrong, or isn´t my card any good?

try to connect only the pc with your tv, no other cables. its maybe a problem with the grounding.

i´ve tried that, i disconnected the monitor, but there was no difference....

so it only does it when you hook it straight to your video card? have you tried a different tv? does other devices do it (eg. x-box)?

The monitor shouldn't matter. What can be critical is the antenna cable of the TV. Have you tried it with disconnected antenna cable?

Other than that it could be because of a low quality cable from PC to TV. Try a high quality (shielded) cable, the shorter the better.

thats of course what i thought of - disconnect all other cables from your tv, not the pc.

i´ve tried with 3 different tv´s.
grounded with different power supply to make sure it isn´t a grounded problem. Also tried to disconnect all other cables from both the tv and the computer. Tried both svhs, scart and antenna connection. It´s seems like the problem must be with the card??
My friend has just the same problem with his card. (leadtek winfast geforce 3 titanium 200). It´s just a small problem, but it´s anoying.
I don´t know how it´s supposed to look??
Maybe the tv-out connection isn´t better than this?
Should it be crystal clear??
Maybe i should get another card, it might not be working ok.

BTW
I don´t get this other devices like N64, Playstation etc.
Must be the card or some settings...

At which resolution the black lines appears? I have taht problem with my geforce2 MX 400. My video card has a Ch-7007 Tv encoder (but I read that CH-7008 had same problem)and when I set a resolution of 800x600 with overscan(fullscreen) there are horizontal black lines. If I set the resolution to 640 x 480 or 800x600 no fullscreen the black lines go away.
So I always use 640 x 480 for Tvout.

The problem appear with ALL resolutions....unfortunatly...
With tv-tool I can´t choose 640*480, fullscreen though.
In 800*600, not fullscreen the problem is still there....

Probably you already have, but ... have you tried with latest version of TvTool (6.0b). In what's new they wrote "....This version fixes different bugs, especially some bugs in connection with GF3 cards..."

No, I haven´t.....I use tv-tool 5.5.
Will try to get a newer version somehow...
But....but the problem is still there if I change to tv connection in display propereties also.....so....i don´t know..

Funny but I also have this problem with my Visiontek GF3 Ti200 but it hasn't always been this way. For awhile, two maybe three months, it worked just fine at 800x600. I guess I'll try knocking the resolution to 640x480 to see what happens. BTW, -freddan-, what version of the detonator drivers are you using?

Detonator driver, 23.11...
I don´t seem to be alone to have this problem..

BTW, tried with tvtool 6.0b....no difference..

Okay...I was using the 23.11s as well. I just upgraded to the 28.32s and I'll test it tomorrow. Let you know if it clears up the problem.

What's the source video?

If you are using an interlaced video, your video card will output it with horizontal black lines in the video.

(Yeah, I know a tv can display interlaced video with no black lines, but not if it comes from a tv-out card).

The problem appear all the time, no matter the videosource...
In both DVD and DivX movies...
Althought I seemed to get it a bit better yesterday..
I raised the "color carrier" in tv-tool...

I looked at tv-tools homepage and found out that there are many
people with this problem...
Seems to be an issue with the chrontel chip...

Anyway....the colors are not really stable, but
I got it quite good, so I´m happy...

28.32 drivers cleared the problem up for me.
