damn creative...
i've got a problem on win xp that i didn't have on win98 or winme. i can playback divx movies with ac3 without any problems but i get from time to time a slight repeating in the playback. it's hard to explain. when someone in the movie says wait it sounds like w-wait. and it isn't the whole time in the same place. when i rewind the movie and check the same part, it's gone, but i appears some time later again. i can't figure out why. i tried different players, the wmp6.4, bsplayer, powerdivx, everytime the same s.it. i think this problem is only there when i use the spdif output, it's not on the 2 speaker dolby surround in the intervideo audio dec options. like i said before, i didn't have that kind of problems on win9x. i use a live 5.1 player with the newest driver i think. plz help me cuz i'm close to install win98 again, only for watching ac3 movies.

No need to go back to 98:eek:

What driver version are you using? Which AC3 filters do you have installed? Try downloading Doom9's audiofilters.zip and then try with them.

i don't know the driver number but they were the latest i could find on creative.com, or are some other drivers available?
i installed (like on win98) the nimo codec pack, and it was working fine, till xp...

LOL. Using the latest driver means nothing to me. Creative releases drivers faster than the wonderful Xvid deverlopers release new builds. Now that's fast. You need to find the driver version before I can help further.

Yes, there are about a few hundered different driver versions floating around and all of them have there little quirks. Have you had alook at the AC3/SPDIF FAQ? Also, please list your software/hardware specs.

3509.2.0.0 - is this the version?

yes i looked in the ac3 faq

hmm do you need more then the soundcard type? does it matter what else ive got in the computer?

So v3509 is the drivers you have it looks like. Version 3512 is recommended, so you might do a quick search on the we band try that version. Also, Alive! (http://alive.singnet.com.sg/drivers/) is a great resource for drivers and other setup info.

Try doing the Creative driver shuffle to see if any work for you and then will go from there;)

I have the same problem as Frosty. I have a Live! Player 5.1 and a DTT2200
speaker set and am using WinXP. I tried driver versions 3509, 3512 and 3520. I
tried 4 different versions of iviaudio.ax. The only one that has worked for
me was the one that came with the trial version of WinDVD 3.0, but unfortunately
that one has a 5 min playback limit, so I'm not 100% sure if it worked okay,
but I think that those 5 min had no stutter issues (5 mins is a long enough
time for a couple of stutters with the other sets of filters). So, I'm guessing
that it's a iviaudio.ax problem. Now, if someone would be nice enough to
put the full version of the iviaudio.ax (3.0 or 3.1 version) somewhere for
download (or email them to me), I'd really appreciate it.

Frosty,

I installed a SB Live today on an XP platform. I heard the same problem your hearing only for me it was happening in MP3 files as well for AC3 files. I tried numerous driver versions and nothing helped. Dumped the card in the trash and bought a Hercules Fortissmo II. No more stutters and high CPU usage on the system. End of story:)

Not bad for a days work.

yeah i also thought about that but right now im out of money... :(
damn this creative crap...

but i would still try the other iviaudio.ax. can you send it to me?

I would suggest trying to change the pci bus, I mean switch the card to another pci buss and see if it helps.
I had the same problem even in win98 before but after some switching it went as it should and I never looked back again

hope it helps.

Best Regards

Kandor has a point here, most people recommend putting Creative cards in the farthest PCI slot from the CPU. Didn't work me today but it's worth a shot.

EDIT- Also, the PCI latency patch should be applied if your using a VIA board.
