VirtualDub freezes whenever I try to save an AVI file with Audio compression turned on (doesn't matter which Audio codec, I have tried WMA, and Divx WMA, and MP3, and what not).
If I don't use any Audio compression, it works fine, but if I turn Audio to Full Proccessing mode, and choose compression, then when I save AVI file, it the process window stops on the first 8000 kb or so, and nothing moves except the "time elapsed", and "estimated time", which keep going up.
Anyone know what this could be?
Thanks!

I'm not sure what the problem is that your having as I've never let Vdub compress my audio. Any particular reason why you would rather do it this way? Doing live captures or something?
IMO encoding audio seperately with BeSweet or HeadAC3he is a much better option. Mux the audio in after the video compression is finished.

I was just trying to save time and encode everything together, but I guess that's not a good option.
So, what you do is extract the audio from the captured AVI, compress it, and then load it back in? Might there be any synching problems that I should be aware of when working this way?
Thanks!

Your audio is already in the AVI? In WAV format I assume? What do you want to be your final audio format? Ogg Vorbis or MP3?
The most effecient option is to extract the audio from the original VOB files. The use one of the programs I mention above to transcode the AC3 file into either an Ogg Vorbis or an MP3 file. After that you can mux it into the AVI/Ogg file using either NanDub(MP3) or GraphEdit(Ogg).
I hate to ask this but have you read any of the audio or Divx guides? They all explain the proper methods of A/V encoding and muxing. Have a read please.

Actually for now I am only doing VHS capturing, so that's why the Audio is in the AVI file. But I will read the guides - I am new to this and just found out about this forum and Doom9 in general yesterday.
Thanks for your help!

Demux your WAV from the AVI file and then either compress it as an Ogg Vorbis or MP3 file. Mux it and that's it:)
Guides of course will walk you through this step-by-step
