DivX 5 and MP3Pro Together?

Does anyone know if there is a way to encode with divx video and MP3 Pro audio?

The reason I ask is because I believe that MP3 Pro will become the new audio standard and with the claims that is made about it, it seems to have excellent quality at lower bitrates.

How cool would that be to save yourself 20-60mb of audio file size on a divx movie??!!!!

One way I was thinking that it could be done is by encoding the video and audio streams as seperate files. Then reencoding the audio as a 64kb/sec MP3 Pro file. Following this merging them in some program. Is this possible, and if so what programs would be necessary to do so? And would it play back correctly?

If anyone has any solutions on this topic please keep me posted.

You can't use the advantages of MP3Pro in videos because there is no MP3Pro Direct Show Filter which would be needed for this. You can mux it into video but you will only hear the "normal" MP3 sound which doesn't sound very good at the low MP3Pro bitrates. In case you don't know MP3Pro consists of two parts: a normal MP3 signal (because of that it's compatible with MP3) + some sort of psychoacoustic addition in high frequencies.

Personally I think there will never be a MP3Pro Dirct Show Filter because it's a proprietary format and there are already much better audio formats like ogg vorbis and AAC which sound both a lot better than MP3Pro at equally low bitrates.

My advice to you: use ogg vorbis audio in an OGG container file.

Who the f*ck needs MP3Pro? You realy should use Ogg Vorbis, it's far better qualitywise and has many other advantages over AVI/MP3, e.g. less overhead, multiple channels and better seeking support!
