frame rate and video type

Hi guys,
here is the point. I've just installed the GKnot pack using the DivX5 Pro codec. I found a clear guide on this site, explaining the whole encoding process but I have the following problem. After loading the .VOB files and while playing the preview in DVD2AVI, the status window tells me the Aspect Ratio is 4:3, the Frame Rate is 29.970 fps, the Video Type is NTSC and the Frame Type is Interlaced. The guide talks about performing "IVTC" when the frame rate is 29.970 fps and the video type is NTSC (well, I think so). What does it mean and where do I find this "IVTC" command.
I've actually got these horizontal black lines going thru the picture when the movie plays back in the preview.
What do I have to do ?

Video=>Field Operation=>Forced Film should do the job ;)

Thanks dude, but what exactly (in a few words) is this "IVTC" stuff anyway ??

In short 29.976 kind of repeats some frames and IVTC graps the neeeded 23.976 frames.
