For the past 24 hours or so I've been encoding Brotherhood of the Wolf. It's a french movie so I included subtitles in dvd2svcd, which I is a feature I've never tried before. Regardless, after a lot of uptime the process is done and I'm checking out the subbed muxed movie files, which are luckily bigger than the regular muxed ones. I fire up powerdvd and no subtitles appear, not in the "subbed" ones and obviously not in the non "subbed" ones.

I didn't notice any errors during the encoding, and especially not regarding the subtitles.

Elborate please :)

Hi interman,

it's not a problem with DVD2SVCD it is a problem of PowerDVD and all the other software players around - they don't support SVCD subtitles in any format yet.

If you want to know if your standalone DVD player supports subtitles and which format of them then have a look at http://www.vcdhelp.com at the DVD player compatibility list and see the user comments on that.

If you still have all your files from the conversion you can do a "Crash Recovery" from the "Muxing and Cutting" step in "Misc." tab after having ticked the other subtitle format if you have choosen the wrong format for your standalone player with your first attempt.

Greetings,
Gerti

Thanks for the quick response. I checked the website and it seems the pioneer dv-444 doesn't support subs, however my model is the dv-444-d. I'll probably just burn the first one and perhaps i'll have an extra coaster ;)
