Hi there,
well, yesterday I stumbled again over a capturing/encoding/streaming program for Linux called FFMPEG. As a matter of fact there is also a Windows binary available.
Well, it surprised me that this program can encode AC3 audio (by the way, it's GPL). I think if this is really true than it should be possible to re-encode an AC3 stream at a lower bitrate for example or even encode from other sources. I did a few tests last night and this morning and unfortunately wasn't able to get a decent output stream yet.
I'd be quite interested to hear if anyone has tried that and has been successful so far. The documentation of that program is rather bad. So, is there a possibilty to decode an AC3 stream to six mono waves in BeSweet (that's possible as far as I know) and reencode it to 6 channel AC3 at lower bitrate with ffmpeg?
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
