I made a copy of a dvd by extracting the files into a VIDEO_TS file and then i burned it with nero. burned fine. went to play it on a dvd player and it did not work. then i tryed my dvd-rom and it worked. the sound was a little poppy, but it worked. how could this be? i have a dvd player that plays dvd-r. thanks

Did you put AUDIO_TS folder as well??? Sometimes it's needed. And are you sure your standalone supports DVD-R?
Try reading some guides on the DVD-DVD conversion...

no audio_ts folder cause the original dvd did not have one either. it looks like the movie i copied in explorer. the dvd player definatly supports dvd-r cause it says so in its description and also talked to someone with the same model. I am really baffled by this

I use Prassi PrimoDVD 2.0 and it works much better. It checks to make sure that the folders are correct prior to burning it to dvd-r.

Make sure you create an empty AUDIO_TS folder and burn that too. What I also do is copy the VIDEO_TS.VOB from the original DVD and place it in the same ripped VIDEO_TS folder. No problems at all.

how come you copy that one file?

One of the how-to guides suggested that that file exists in the VIDEO_TS folder. Although it says that you can use any file from any movie, I feel comfortable to just copy the one that came with the DVD Movie. It's small anyways.
