Is it possible to rip a dvd using DVD decrypter first then using vstrip to get the IFO parsing done?

Hi there,

Yes that is possible. Just rip as per usual with DVD-Decryptor, use a software dvd player such as powerdvd to play ( authenticate ) the vobs on ur hdd and use vStrip as normal.

Are there any special vstrip options that i need to enable to make sure the IFO parsing takes place? The reason I am asking is because and I went ahead and followed the vstrip guide and ended up with the same type of VOBs as the DVD decrypter source. I used gknot to encode the movie and am still ending up with the same result. Basically, the movie is out of synch because of the extra pre-movie credits (wb logo screen followed by a black screen, etc..). Always ran into this problem without the IFO parsing. Oh, and smartripper for some reason did not rip this movie correctly originally so i decided to try this route (dvd decrypter > vstrip).

if u extract the audio and video streams from the ripped vobs using vStrip you should avoid having all that extra stuff such as fbi warnings etc. to possibly help you, this is my method:

1-rip dvd using dvd-decryptor.
2-run powerdvd in file mode and open the vobs then play and stop ( to authenticate ), leave powerdvd running.
3-run vstrip ( gui ), screen 1 choose the vobs.
4-screen 2, choose .ifo, *click on the stream u want* ( check the running times ) in the pgc area.
5-screen 3, choose output name and location, set output filesize and hit "run".

after that i use dvd2avi to demux the audio and video streams.

Ignore step 2 in the above procedure...its not needed.

er ... not to argue but i can't run vStrip without doing that ( step 2 ), i get that "not authenticated" message ... oh well.

If the files are on your hdd (having done step 1)....what exactly do you intend to 'authenticate' ?!?! LOL :p

yeah, lol, i think i must have accidently been ripping from the dvd one day ( ... thinking i was ripping from the hdd ) as u exactly right :o ... i've ripped 3 dvd's without so far. silly me, "arguing" with an expert. :(
