Default postprocessing level?

What does Default postprocessing level do to the encodeing?
I've tryed all functions (1-7) and I couldn't realy see a differens.

It does nothing to encoding. It makes a difference during playback, only.

The option during encoding is to change the default level during playback. You can edit this level in many players.
