View Full Version : Anyway to use "Dolby Headphone" in AC3-DivX?

I have here a DivX-File with 5.1-AC3 sound.
I registered the AC3 audio decoder 3.5.1004 (coming with PowerDVD 4) and mpgaudio.ax (version 1.02 from VULTURE).
I get Stereo or Dolby Surround, but the option "Dolby Headphone" ist greyed.

When playing DVDs in PowerDVD, I can use the option without any problems.

But in BSPlayer (Build481) playing the DivX-File, the option is not available.

Please help! (I have Win98SE)
The option is vital since I don't have a Dolby Digital system.

You could play your divx directly with PowerDVD. The bad thing is that PowerDVD will always stretch the video to 4:3 with divx-files but this can be corrected with YXY (find it here (http://www.keohi.com/keohihdtv/htpc/yxy_windvd.html) ).
This may be a not as easy as just pushing play in WMP, but once you figured out how to use YXY it works very well.

Well, that's the point, I don't know why, but my PowerDVD crashes when trying to play DivX Content.

It's a DivX5 file and I have the regular DivX5 codec on the machine.

Every version of PowerDVD I've tried crashes when playing Divx/Xvid and AC3 movies. I think the Cyberlink filters might be at fault but it's just a guess.

I found the fix for Divx/Xvid with AC3 using PowerDVD for playback finally!

I'm using it right now in Dolby Headphone mode and it sounds great. Try this and please report feedback so I can include it the FAQ.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cyberlink\PowerDVD\DSAUIF

Enjoy!

PowerDVD XP 4.0 works for me without editing the registry. Divx5 and Xvid with AC3 sound both play fine.

I changed it from a to 4, but it doesn't help. PowerDVD keeps crashing.
And in BSPlayer, I don't have sound anymore.

[EDIT]
I get the following failure notice in PowerDVD:

@bobotns

Try both of these or just one of them at a time-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cyberlink\PowerDVD]
"DSAUIF"=dword:00000004

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cyberlink\Powerdvd]
"DSAUIF"=dword:00000004

I don't understand why BSplayer has anything to do with PowerDVD. Which audio filter do you have selected in BSplayer? Does PowerDivx still work for you. Please also download audiofilters.zip from Doom9's audio section if you haven't done so in the past few days.

EDIT- What version of PowerDVD are you using?

There is no DSAUIF option under local machine\... I added it manually, but it also doesn't help. PowerDVD keeps crashing.
I have PowerDVD 4.0

I registered the filters mentionned in my first post. I unregistered them and installed the filters from Doom9, but I don't have CyberLink in BSPlayer anymore, that means no Dolby Headphone option. I have now the regular InterVideo filter.

I want to use the CyberLink filter, since it offers that Headphone option, but it's greyed and I don't know how to activate it.

And in PowerDVD all AVIs are causing crashing...

I should have mentioned this before, to my knowledge the CyberLink filters can't be used with BSplayer or any other player for that MaTTeR, just PowerDVD:)

I'm running the full retail PowerDVD 4XP version here and the all the Dolby options are available after doing the reg entry. It's worth noting that I also have the CyberLink v3.00.804 filter installed from Tsunami's 3.9.3 filter pack. In my PowerDVD folder, I also have cladr.ax(audio render) v3.00.0227 and claud.ax v3.5.1004.

I think the DPL Headphone feature is embedded in the claudfx.ax v4.0.1013 which I currently have registered because it shows up in GraphEdit.

I did have to add the DSAUIF registry key to the /local machine as you did. Before I did this, PowerDVD would crash every time. Have you tried deleting the key to see if everything returns to a "normal" state?

Well, the CyberLink filter works in BSPlayer without any problems, just the dolby headphone option is greyed. Changing the key from a to 4 deactivates *all* selections, even stereo is greyed then.

I don't have cladr.ax

Registering claudfx.ax doesn't bring anything.

Adding or removing the key from local machine\... doesn't change anything. PowerDVD works the same in *all* cases (with or without your suggested settings): VCD/SVCD/DVD work fine, AVI causes crashing.
I have all Dolby & TruSurround SRS options in PowerDVD itself.

Wow! it works now, thanks a lot! (I've just put the file in the directory, not more)
Oh man, this is so great!

About the aspect ratio problem of PowerDVD: I use the option "extend to 4:3" in DVobSub ;)

And I'm also happy that Morgan Stream Switcher doesn't interfere with the built-in routines of BSPlayer

3 problems solved in one day! :D

Well it sounds like your having a good day after all:D

Cheerz dude!

EDIT- If there are no objections then I'll be adding this to the AC3/SPDIF FAQ.
