VirtualDub freezes on Audio compression

VirtualDub freezes whenever I try to save an AVI file with Audio compression turned on (doesn't matter which Audio codec).
If I don't use any Audio compression, it works fine.

Anyone know what this could be?

had the same problem before ...

Here disabling the switch in the options menu 'sync to audio' has helped.
