With DVD2SVCD ver 1.0.7 build 1 and 4 i have a problem to encode only a chapter.

I do this (from FAQ):

<<<
Q46: How can I encode just one (some) chapter(s) - for testing purposes for example?
A: That's pretty easy if you're using the internal routines from DVD2SVCD for the ripping step.
1. Start DVD2SVCD and go to "DVD Rip" tab.
2. Make sure "Activate DVD ripping" is enabled and "Use Internal routines" is ticked also.
3. If you re-rip previously ripped *.vob files (e.g. ripped with Smartripper) from your harddrive then make sure to specify a directory for the "Rip to folder" path that is different from the one that holds your already ripped *.vob files.
4. Go to "Conversion" tab and load the appropriate *.ifo file from harddisk or from the DVD by hitting the button with the folder symbol or the one with the CD symbol on it.
5. After the *.ifo file is loaded and parsed by DVD2SVCD the "Movie length" pulldown will show the total time of the selected movie.
6. Click on the "Movie length" pulldown and a little window titled "Select chapters" will appear.
7. Now mark only those chapters you want to convert with DVD2SVCD - you should hit the "None" button first to unmark all chapters - just makes it easier.
8. Now close the "Select chapters" window by hitting the "X" button and the cumulated time of all marked chapters should appear in the "Movie length" pulldown.
9. Hit the "Go!" button to start the encode of only the selected chapter(s). But make sure not to click on a different tab anymore as this will reset your previous chapter selection. If you did change tabs, then just click the movie length pulldown again and close the "Select chapters" window when it opens up. This will reset your previously selected chapters. You should usually perform this step right before you're ready to press the "Go!" button.

In my case i have all the vob files in the hard-disk (ripped with smartripper)
But with this procedure, DVD2SVCD re-rip and encode all the movie (even if i have selected only a chapter, infact I have seen in the "movie lenght" the right lenght of the single chapter).

I try to remove and re-install DVD2SVCD but the problem remain.

Which could be the cause.

bye bye

Do not use SmartRipper with DVD2SVCD. It can and will cause problems. Only use the included rippers.

Yes that is your problem. You can only rip chapters from a DVD.

Hi there,

I just want to add that I have updated Q46 of the Q&A with a remark that the chapter ripping feature might fail if using any other ripper than the internal routines or vStrip. And also I deleted the lines with the tab change bug because it was fixed in the last version.

I always used the internal routines for ripping the VOBs to my hard disk and I usually keep them some time just in case something went wrong with a specific conversion. And I never had any problems to re-rip only a chapter from them if I had ripped the VOBs with the internal routines before.

In fact I sometimes re-rip only one or two chapters of a movie in order to add the re-ripped VOBs to my "test chapters database" so I can try some different settings on them. The VOB of a small chapter only needs little space on the hard disk so it's no big deal to keep it for future testing purposes.

Greetings,
Gerti

I had the same problem and but in reverse. I made a test of only one chapter and when I did the whole movie, I was still getting one chapter. I used internal routines for ripping both times...

There seems to be a problem with some settings that dont re-initialize. If you reboot your PC it will go away. Just restarting DVD2SVCD wont help.
