Can you buy bigger DVD-Rs?

Is it possible to buy bigger blank DVDs? Why can't you buy DVD-9s if they hold 8.2 GB? This seems silly. If anyone knows where to buy DVD-9s, let me know.

I think that not many dvd writers (if any) can really write to a dvd-9
These discs are dual layered anyway, unlike the regular single layer dvd-5. I think it is a hardware limitation at the moment.
