Hi,

I use TMPG to encode my SVCD movies from DVD source. I follow Doom9s guide to the letter. Have made some great looking SVCDs. I use Nero to burn the SVCDs as told in the guide. I encode video and audio separately and then multilplex using bbmpeg.

The only problem I have is that when I play the SVCDs in my Pioneer DV-444 dvdplayer it doesnt display the time counter for the movie. So when I stop the movie using the stop button the player doesnt give me a resume option and I have to start the movie back from the start which is a real pain! Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or is such a thing expected?

Thanks in advance!

You could try what I do for my philips player. When you encode in tmpg in the advance options select close all GOPS or create bit stream for editing depending on which version your using.

This is a result of Nero...I had the same problem. (As of .72 version it still didn't work, I have not tested the .78 version yet.)If you use vcdimager to create a svcd image and then burn the image with Nero, everything should work okay.

Take care,

I had the same problems with my dv-535 and now with my dv-444.

If you only want to see the time left, press the "track forward" button before pressing "play". So the player should show you the time index. Unfortunatelly you still can't jump for- or backward to a specified time.

With VCD-Imager (which DVD2SVCD uses) you can create SVCD which don't have these problems and you can also use the DVD-chaptors on SVCDs. By pressing "track forward" you can jump chaptor by chaptor forward.

Hi,

I was browsing through the VCDImager guide yesterday and made a svcd disc with chapters. But it still doesnt display the time counter!

It does display it when I press forward/backward instead of pressing play at the beginning. But then it doesnt do the chapter forward/back resp.

Otherwise the DV-444 is pretty good. It plays anything I throw at it! I also use non-standard 48Khz audio in my SVCD which it plays flawlessly :)

Its because you're using "playback control". If you want to see the time, disable it, or load the SVCD in the player, then press the next chapter button. If you HAVE chapters, you wont be able to navigate through them, mind you... Hope that helps...
