i've done some rips with gknot now and put the W an H-modul on 16
but now i've did a search to find out more about them but i didn't exactly find what i was looking for.

What is the best setting?

thx.

from what i understand for best compatability you should use 32 for both.
32x16 is also good. i read that some video cards/drives have issues with playing 16x16 movies. lower number gives you more choices in resolutions but it might not be a valid WxH combo. i use 32x16 as gknot recommend..

It has been my experience (limited though it is) that you can even get away with 2x2 depending on your video card and resolution you chose. I have done some rips that are NOT standard 32x32 or even 32x16...I have done 2x2's with no problem. Stay away from odd numbers..and remember, you only have to encode a few second's worth to discover if the resolution you chose will work. Experimentation is the key.

It seems to be (though not 100% proved, the tests seem pretty conclusive) that 32x32 resolutions give better quality (i.e., lower file-sizes on fixed quant encodes which = better quality on variable quant encodes) than non 32x32 resolutions, but once you decend belowe 32x32 the quality difference is not that high.

If the above paragraph didn't really make sense to you, just take this away. Using 32x32 is going to give you the most compatable video, which is also going to be the best quality.
