View Full Version : Audio too loud

Hi folks :),

first I have to say that Gordian Knot is a great program, with it I ripped my first DVDīs perfectly. The Quality of the movie & sound is really fine, but I have a little problem:

After encoding the whole stuff with GKnot the audio of the movie is very loud. I have to put down my volume @ Play Control and Wave almost to the lowest line, otherwise the audio is extremly loud. Other movies (not self-ripped) have a softer audio, so I havenīt to put down my volume.

I think it may be the normalizaton level, Gknot determines at the beginning of the encoding process. I use the normal settings @Gknot, I just select the source (AC3 ripped with DVD2AVI) and select "MP3 128kbit/s. average Bitrate).
The transcoding parameters look like the following:
Azid: -L -3db -c -normal
Lame: -h -abr -128

How can I soft down the audio volume (lower normalization ?!) ??

thx for help :)

inside gknot you can't. you would have to transcode the audio manually beforehand, then "just mux".

but i highly recommend to use the highest gain-level possible (=to normalize) and just turn down the speaker, to get the highest possible quality...
