Purple vertical lines in VBR advanced settings

Hello,

It always happens when I follow to the "getting the best out of CCE" guide.

After I encoded the one pass VBR, I awitched to multi pass VBR and pressed on advanced settings.

Now, it says in the guide that I sould, basicly, turn all the gray parts green.

But ..

So far, I NEVER had gray parts on the backround. I only saw purpel vertical lines.

what those lines represent ? are they the same as gray areas ?

Just like the csae of the bitrate display, the white line, green line, red line and yellow line of the graph indicate the average quantization scale of I pictures, P pictures, B pictures and the respective GOP units. The double vertical lines at the center show the currently selected timecode.
As the value of the graph becomes smaller, the distortion of the frame becomes smaller. When the quantization scale is displayed, the background is colored with green, gray and red. The part where the background is green is encoded at relatively good image quality, the gray part at standard image quality, and the red part at image quality where distortion tends to be outstanding. Once one becomes used to reading this display, image quality can be roughly estimated before encoding. Use this graph for setting the bitrate.


If you aren't seeing any green, gray or red background, it sounds like you're looking at the bitrate display rather than the quantization display.

The FIRST things I did was pressing the Q-Scale.

I followed exactly to the instruction within the guide.

Still, I never had gray areas in the backround.

all I see is green backround, double orange vertical lines and ocasiounlly (sometimes a lot of them) vertical lines colored in purple.
