Hi all,
I'm very new to all this ripping stuff.
Just wanted to know , what is IFO Parsing and why is is required ?While ripping DVDs, is it not enough , if only the .VOB files are ripped?
Also, is UDF parsing the same as IFO Parsing?
Thanks in advance

IFO parsing is required for movies with multiple/seamless branches (and sometimes angles). This is where two versions of the movie run along side each other (i think!).
Other than the above, Ive never really seen a good reason for IFO parsing...many people use it because it is supposed to cut out the stuff before the movie...personally, I like all that! Nothing bad will happen to you if you dont do IFO parsing...the encoders just take whatever input they are given...be it having been created by an IFO parsing ripper, or a non IFO parsing one.

No, UDF parsing and IFO parsing are not the same. UDF parsing is to do with the structure and layout of the files on the disc. IFO is to do with the structure / layout of the scenes / chapters of the film.
