I bought the newest version. I tried to convert a .avi to mpg, I got an error "file cannot open or is unsupported". Then I used my 12a version, and I'm able to convert. Why? What does my newest version need to convert?
Appreciate the help

You bought it? hhhhmmmm, Thought it was free.
As far as it not opening an avi/DivX file im stumped, all I can think of is to make sure you have the current DivX doecs installed(Still doesnt explain why it opened in 1 and not the other)

I bought the 2.52 Plus version, it's now on sale. I found out how to fix the error, and this seems to work for me. :D
Change settings in TMPGEnc: (for the error of not open or unsupported .avi)
Open program/ Option/ Environmental settings/ VFAPI Plugin
Right click and change: Avi Compatability Reader to 0
Avi File Reader to 0
Direct show to 1 or 2
This is just in case anyone else is having the same error.

2.52 plus is buggy and the quality output sucks
Go for 2.53: Fix a lot of probs and the quality is much better.

I get the same error message. But I get it with a .d2v file. I know it worked at one time. But right now I can't figure it out. Somehow I messed it up. Can somebody tell me how to fix it?

Regarding buying it:
There's a message right on the webpage when you buy it saying "Serial numbers won't be re-issued if they are lost, so please write it down". I don't know how much more clear that can be.
