I installed XMpeg 4.3, then XMpeg 4.31a over it, and I still can't get it to work. It opens the .ifo file and pops up a message saying that it needs to run a test because of enabled iDCT. The test starts running, Xmpeg seems to be busy, and then it simply disappears. No error message, nothing. The process completely disappears from the memory space. What should I do?

Same thing always happens to me.

I've had exactly the same problem! My solution was to uninstall xmpeg, delete the xmpeg folder and reinstall 4.31a.

Prisma is totally right, you shouldn't install Xmpeg 4.31a over 4.3.
If you did that because of the ifo parsing just save the file dvd.mism which is in your Xmpeg folder to another directory, uninstall Xmpeg, delete the folder, reinstall Xmpeg 4.31a and copy the DVD.mism back to the folder.
You can also download DVD.mism here:

The new version doesn`t crash on my system here but I have a different problem.
One thing is clear...I absolute recommend to deinstall/delete any older version of Xmpeg befor installing the latest one.
Here is my problem:
Xmpeg seems to believe that everytime it gets started and I load a Mpeg2 file into it that I have a new iDCT installed and makes that speed test. See the screenshot for the message I get.
Anybody who has a solution for this?

Delete the Xmpeg keys from the registry and try again.
