View Full Version : encoding divx movie

I downloaded Legally Blonde divx movie and am trying to put it on vcd or svcd.

I can watch it on any of my players on my pc and it plays perfectly.

When I load it into tmpgenc, the audio is silent.

I open the avi in Vdub, and it says that it detects a variable bitrate audio stream. It suggests to decompress the .wav and recompress with a cbr at 138 +/- 15 kbps.

1. Does anyone know how to get the audio present in tmpgenc plus 2.5?

2. How would I go about uncompressing and recompressing the wav file?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

What you need to do is open the movie in virtualdub, do save wav..., then strip the riff-wav header from the file or otherwise find a way to decode the .mp3 audio (winamp with its discwriter plugin is one option).

Then encode the decompressed wav to .mp2 (with toolame, for example).

gft,

Thanks for your help. I used SoundForge to create the uncompressed wave and brought it into tmpgenc as the audio source.

Thanks again.
