Xvid and Anime

encoding anime.. sucks with DivX 5 pro.. I am new to encoding anime, so I am not familiar with all the settings. I played around with all the Div5 settings for a long while, but nothing worked out well. I am encoding a street fighter alpha the movie DVD, it is 1:30 in length.. I hear Xvid encodes anime well. If anyone has some nice anime settings, if you could post em, that would be much appreciated. Also, should I IVTC it? I have tried about 4 IVTC methods and they all did an 80% job, leaving many interlaced frames... is xvid currently the best solution for anime? thanks.

You should get nice results with the following method:
Create the DVD2AVI from the vobs and save it with Field Operation: FORCED FILM. If the Movie is above 97 or 98 % of FILM content you're almost done just load the dvd2avi project file into gknot, resize it and save the avs-script. Load it into VDub and start encoding!
If the movie has a lower FILM-percantage as above you should integrate Decomb into the avs script for additional deinterlacing. It will erase all scenes that show the ugly Interlacing-lines. It worked perfect for me on some DBZ Movies which were about 96%FILM...
The Decomb integration is simple:
Load the Decomb.dll like the mpeg2dec.dll or sth. like that - just the path must be right and to let decomb do its "dirty" work, just add the line

"telecine()" <- under the cropping line! (without the quotation marks)

Next time give a hint about the software-combo you're encoding with, I don't wanna write a reply in exam-style ;)

You should ALWAYS do IVTC for NTSC material. IVTC isn't really related to XviD though so I won't get into it and risking the fury of the moderators.
