Ahoy,

just released a new binary:

XviD-15032002-1 _ALPHA_ Release

Based on the CVS sources from 15.03.2002, ~12:30h CET.

Changelog:

XviD-15032002-1:
- removed some debugmessages in the core from the rate control algorithms, they look
nasty in 2 pass encoding sessions
- reimplemented modulated quantizer type


There are bugfixes in the core, possibly fixing luma masking issues.

Get it by following the XviD link in my signature.

Nope, -h isn't finished with the reworked GUI yet, thus it's not yet in CVS.

it will be released when nic decides to. period. (it's beeing asm optimized by trberry and nic atm)

in the meantime, u can compile and modify the current(=some weeks older) one if the dshow project is of such importance for u.

Im also not sure about the issue of GPL....Because the deblocking code (although cleaned up by me) is still pretty much the same code as in OpenDivX....This may cause problems, so I want to change it so it can be called GPL (Im not sure if they'd want anything non-gpl in the cvs now, because since the new core, all code is gpl....i think :) )

I was in fact having luma masking issues; with the old version, whenever I tried to encode Ah! My Mini-Goddess episode 01 with luma masking enabled it would totally trash the output video file.

How would you go about reproducing the bugged behavior? Does it only happen with anime?

I got a crash in VirtualDub (1.4.9) with Koepis build (XviD-15032002-2) when i use Modulated quantization, but it worked ok with h.263.

Also playback seems to be choppy at some points when playing back video with Xvid DSF (hori + vert deblocking (Y)). This is with xvid video compressed with old core (1.0), and it worked ok before.

Has anyone had the same problems?
