Hi gang, this is my first post. First, a word of thanks to Derrow for all his hard work on IfoEdit. It certainly is an interesting program!
Unfortunately, I've been unsuccessful in my attempts to split a DVD-9 into 2 DVD-Rs (preserving the menus and extras) using the "Split to 2 DVD-Rs" feature of IfoEdit. IfoEdit seems to be working just as described in Derrow's guide, and it does indeed split the DVD into two separate discs, but when I hit the DVD Play button to test the split discs I get the message "DVD Warning: An illegal navigation command was encountered". I've tried splitting several movies and I always get this error. For some movies the error happens on Disc 1 but Disc 2 plays fine, and on other movies Disc 1 plays fine but Disc 2 has the error. I've carefully followed all of the instructions in Derrow's guide (they're really very simple) including copying the VIDEO_TS.*, VTS_01_*, and VTS_02_0.VOB files (where VTS_02 is the main movie) to both disc directories.
I've noticed that in all the movies I've tried so far, the main movie title set has contained two titles. (In the "Final Fantasy" example in Derrow's guide, the main title set appears to contain only 1 title. I don't know if this makes a difference.) For example, in the movie "Contact", the main movie title set is VTS_02_*.*. The VIDEO_TS.IFO file shows that this title set contains two titles: Title 1 (the main movie), and Title 2 (the Warner Bros. logo). After I have split this movie with IfoEdit I can play Disc 1 just fine; the player displays the FBI warning and then switches to Title 2 and plays the Warner logo. But when I play Disc 2, I get the navigation error as soon as the player tries to play Title 2, which happens immediately. (Something similar has happened with all the other movies I've tried: the navigation error happens whenever the player tries to play the second title in the main title set. Sometimes the second title is the main movie menu, in which case the navigation error happens when the player attempts to display the menu.) It seems that some reference to Title 2 exists on both discs, even though the actual Title 2 is (apparently) only to be found on the first disc. (Seems to me that Disc 2 should not even be attempting to play Title 2?) I don't really know what this all means - I'm not a DVD expert (not yet, anyway!)
Additional misc. info: using IfoEdit 0.9, Windows XP, all movies ripped with SmartRipper in backup mode.
Is anybody else having problems like this? Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
