I asked this at the end of my post in another thread regarding problem interlaced DVD's, but I thought it may be an interesting enough question to start a news topic:

Is there a DVD2SVCD database somewhere for problem DVD's like this, [Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back / Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me]... with custom settings/instructions on how to use DVD2SVCD on them?

(I'm not referring to JUST those 2 of course, but to all problematic DVD's out there)

Thanks......

Thanks for your reply JasonD... I checked your thread, it IS a great idea.

Hey moderators, if not a database, how about a "DVD2SVCD Problem DVD" discussion area under Doom9's MPEG Forum > VCD & SVCD > ?? :) It WOULD save countless hours of time for newbie and advanced rippers alike. I have an AthlonXP 1700+ and CCE is in the middle of an 11-hour, 4-pass, IVTC-fed encode of Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me.
I'll reply with the result tomorrow.

Ciao...

problem with this idea is that it becomes outdated. These are just a few from the top of my head that all rip successfully now but at one time were extremely hard to or failed. Be it authentication issues, zero size vobs, or whatever.
X-Men, Matrix, Swordfish.
Jay and Silent Bob...I ripped it with 1.0.7 build 4 and had zero issues. 3 dvds I couldn't rip lately or had issues with. Each one was a physical scratch on the dvd. Nothing at all to do with software.

It's not a bad idea it's just we are all stretched beyond capacity now. DVD2SVCD is busy coding and all of us Mods have various personal issues going on. It is a rather large undertaking as well. If you want to start one up and host it we could link to it in the Q + A if it's found to be accurate, but none of the senior members or Mods has the time.
