I've got most of converting DVD to VCD figured out - except for one part - splitting the files.
I use DVDDecryptor to rip the movie from DVD to my HD. I then use Flask to do the DivX conversion. According to several documents I've read, and a couple of people I've talked to, the output should be bbMPEG Encoder. I set all the "Configure" parameters appropriately and then select "Start Conversion" and set all the bbMPEG parameters. After a while, I have a spanking new, perfect MPG. Unfortunately, it is usually too big to write to VCD and needs to be split. (I should also mention that I let Flask to the multiplexing)
This is where I am stuck - how do I do a clean split of the larger file into smaller ones. It was mentioned that bbMPEG is the method but I can't figure out how. I tried TMPGEnc but its quite rough to use to do splits.
After reading this (and other) threads, it seems as if most people are going to AVI first, splitting the output and then using TMPGEnc to do the multiplex. Is this the best way? Which is the best too to do the split?
Any clarifications and/or corrections to my process would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jim
