View Full Version : File not Found when using Crash Recovery

I have a DVD which ran out of space when trying to create the CD images (doing the second of three). I then made more space available and tried to use crash recovery. I immediately got a "File not Found" message as soon as I tried to load up the DVD2SVCD project file and was unable to continue. What file is it looking for? Is there a way to avoid this error?

I am using DVD2SVCD 1.0.7 Build 4 and was converting a PAL version of "A Knights Tale" (although I suspect it is irrelvant what the DVD being used actually was). The conversion had apparently progressed fine up to this point and the .mpg files are fine.

If necessary I can do this final stage manually - but I was wondering why DVD2SVCD was failing.

Did you change anything in the path? Like did you rename a folder or change a drive letter?
You can open the .d2s file with a text editor and see if all the files and paths referenced in there are correct.

Do you have anything in the path beside a letter or number? Special characters (!@#$%^&*()_+=<>/? and more) cause problems and should not be used for anything.

No - nothing was changed. I simply deleted some files in another directory to make space and and then tried crash recovery. Nothing special about the file name. I have already tried opening the .d2s file to have a look at it and can spot nothing. I also tried changing the Project position to see if that was relevant with no joy.

As I said I can work around the problem but was wondering if it is bug that needs to be reported. I will keep the directory and files intact of this is the case in case further evidence is needed.

I have been doing extensive testing in the last week or so and one of the steps I was using was crash recovery at various steps and never had a problem. I wasn't testing Crash Recovery, but used it to test video encode procedures.

The files that you erased did any have anything to do with this encode? Did you erase the VOB files or anything else that was used in the process?

Does the file not found happen when you select the d2s or when you select the step and hit go?

No the files were nothing to do with the encode. I give each encode its own directory to keep files in while I am working on it. Nothing was deleted from this directory.

I have used crash recovery at other points without problems. I will load up the FILEMON software from SysInternals to see what file it is trying to find and report back.

That was solved in another thread:

The *.IFo file is missing and needs to be read again from the DVD ...

I've been getting the same error but only under that certain condition of running out of disk space before the final bin/cue could be created. Crash recovery has worked for me many times in other situations, but seems to hang when i run out of room.

The last line of my log just says 'Failed to create bin/cue"
Did DVD2SVCD close out all the necessary files and terminate? or is it still waiting for something?
