I humbly come before you with a strange problem.
I started burning discs a few weeks ago. Played beautiful on my single disk Apex 600A. Couldn't play LOTHR without some goofing around . Saw that Apex had the 3 disc (5131) deal, that would be nice not getting off my couch as much. This is where things went wrong I could now play LOTRings but not my previous burns (that were sucessful before). I could still play them on WinDVD. I brought in my copy for her and plays perfect. OK, simple enough must be a settings in the bitrate or something that my player can't handle. My friend at work burned her first disk (7.01b4)with some lower settings that were in the DVD2SVCD guide. She brought it in, I brought it home worked fabulously. Made a copy with my media, perfect. Cool, I will try with the lower settings that were in the doc. Went ahead and did the full 12Hrs thinking it would work perfect. Plays on WinDVD but not on my player. Well, again there must be some setting that I don't have that she does so I had her take screen snaps and verified each setting and I also uninstalled everything and reinstalled. Still didn't work, tried different media, tried the same media she had etc. Same thing.

Some of the things I have tried are using TMPGenc instead of CCE. I had multi-pass at 3 changed to 4.

Any one else have any of these problems? I tried DUP-DVD, I am able to create a SVCD through that but always ends up on 3 disks, and I like the more options with DVD2SVCD.

Sorry this is so long, hope you guys can help out.

First just to give you a hard time you violated rule 9 of the forum rules. You must make your post heading more accurate. In this case maybe something like "SVCD won't play in my DVD player" or something along those lines.

Second make sure to read the Mandatory Read sticky, the Newbie FAQ and the Q + A. I am sure it will answer most of your questions.

Next what software and how did you burn the CDR?
Nero and fireburner have issues when burned the wrong way.
I suggest if you have to use Nero use the method described in the post Foolproof way to burn SVCD. I use VCDEasy most of the time and it has never failed me or anyone I know burning them.

I have this Apex player(and a Pioneer) and all my SVCD work perfect with DVD2SVCD when burned with VCDEasy.

Try VCDEasy(link and guide are in the Newbie FAQ) and then if that doesn't work post your DVD2SVCD_Log.txt file using cut and paste and I will see if I can suggest something.

Edit: The link to the guide is broken. I suspect it was hosted somwhere else and Doom9 just linked to it.

Mark,
Thanks for the reply, and I felt bad about my heading after the fact. I tried both CDRWin and Fireburner, I will try now try VCDEasy and reply back. Thanks very much for your response. Nice Forum. Tom
