Hi,

My friend has an HP, and his DVD drive just stopped working. If he puts in a cd, it reads it, but if he puts in a DVD it says no disk in drive.

I tried all types of rippers and dvd players, but nothing recognizes the DVDs we put in.

This drive did work before.

Does anyone know what could cause this?

I though it may be a firmware problem.

Thanks for the ideas,

Dali

Might want to try double checking the IDE cable as well as connection to the drive and to the mobo.

Also, you should try testing different DVDs.

If you have modified the firmware, then you may be out of luck. Once you modify firmware, if something goes wrong, it is possible the drive may never work again.
