I have this problem:
i join with nandub avi file (video output) and ac3 file (audio output) then if i try to look at film with windvd or an other player i can see good picture and audio, but audio is only stereo while the original file was dolby digital Ac3; infact if i try (before joining) to listen to audio output windvd show dolby digital an i can see trough spdif the full audio.
why ?
what's my mistake ?
thank you

I have read the FAQ but i haven't found the solution, my problem is that all the program (windvd, power dvd, divx player) recognize the audio file as an ac3 (dolby digital) file but after multiplexing it with video file the final avi is recognized as a stereo (not dolby digital) file.
With nandub when multiplexing i choose from audio menu ac3 audio and direct stream copy and nandub when load the file say:
FmtTag:0x2000,SampFreq:48000,Channels:5,bitrate:448 kb/s

Well....make sure your using WaveOut in a player like BSPlayer, PowerDivx or ZoomPlayer. Also, check the InterVideo Audio filter to see if it's set for SPDIF. The filter might be set for stereo.

if i haven't got the ac3filter or not well configured i could not listen to ac3 file before joining the audio file with the video file, but i can listen dolby digital (ac3) file before multiplexing it with video file. It's only the final avi file the problem. :-(((
