It should run fine in vmware but will be very slow.

Anyone used it with wine/winex?

Which can be followed with smartripper/dvd2avi/nandub/virtualdub working???

While the GordianKnot program itself will work in wine, avisynth will not (Please correct me if you know how it can) I have been trying but I don't think it can work.
Also VirtualDub and Nandub programs work, I can't figure out how to get them to find any codecs other then the native uncompressed that's built in. I did all my work with wine, so I am not sure about winex

I thought I'd update this thread, in case someone is trying this again. GordianKnot can work in wine now, although there is one thing I haven't been able to get working yet, GordianKnot doesn't seem to be able to open the codec settings. But using DVDDecrypter, BeSweet, VirutalDubMod, with Xvid works well here. If people are interested in how, let me know, and I'll be trying to figure out the rest.

AutoGK works as said in a vmware-maschine (running windows), but it is slow, indeed.

I tried to get it working with no success in wine, but i cannot figure out why. It seems to me that it is unable to read the avi-file i used for input.

So, yes, interested in more details about how you got along.

Having just investigated GK in wine and submitting a bug report about the failure of GK to adjust codec settings, I discovered you can work around the issue by using native msvfw32.dll. (copy from windows into .wine/drive_c/windows/system32, then use 'winecfg' to set it to native for GK) This should work until Wine fixes the issue. I doubt you'll see this fixed for version 1.0, but there's hope since it's at 1.0rc1 now.

GK: Works fine with the above workaround. Caveats:
1) Resolution Tab, selecting AutoCrop is SLOW. Don't despair, it eventually recovers.
2) Encoder Tab, when I sent an audio job, no window opened up for besweet. It worked fine, just no feedback to indicate it's working.

VirtualDubMod: Options|Preferences..., go to Display tab, uncheck "Use DirectX for display panes", and Save.
DGIndex: appears to work fine
DVD Decryptor: Works fine when set up properly. Check appDB. IIRC, the key was to set emulation to NT4.0 for this to recognize the DVD drive.
AviSynth: Appears to work fine.

I haven't tested anything for subtitles/chapters.
