Hey Guys

Ok I have a DVD whcih is 4:3, Pure NTSC (DVD2AVI shows just NTSC in the box and no FILM)

its also INTERLACED (as reported, again by DVD2AVI)

This is the first time I ma dealing with this kind of a movie.

OK, now Force Film does not activate in this ( presumably as its pure NTSC - I am using 'Automatic' setting in DVD2SVCD)

DDog told me not to use IVTC since its not a good idea to do that on pure NTSC streams.

So i did an ecoding with following options

NTSC Field Operation - 'Automatic'
Resize method - 'Simple'
NO Temporal Smoother
Multipass VBR Encoding - 4 passes
Image Quality Priority - 17
Anti Noise - 2
Linear Quantizer - ON
Upper Field First - ON
Zigzag Scanning order - ON
Progressive Frames - ON
Encoding with - CCE SP 2.50
Deinterlacing Using - Telecide

I got very bad quality using these at AVg Bitrate of 1950. Specifically the problems were in moving scenes where heavy distortion could be seen around moving objects.

Can anyone suggest something?
Telecide says PAL in parentheses. Does that mean its not to be used with NTSC streams? Do I even need to deinterlace in this case? Do I need IVTC?

Any help appreciated. Thx

I just read luke's guide on Interlacing. I think It is interlacing artifacts (horizontal lines) i got. Thus when i say distortion, i think it is interlacing artifacts.

If you're encoding an interlaced video and want to keep it interlaced:

No deinterlacing (Telecide)
Progressive OFF
Linear OFF
ZigZag OFF

But I get Interlacing artefacts when playing it on the computer. What options do I use to deinterlace it. I tried TElecide, but I still got artefacts.

Thx
