Vertical Sync Display Problems

The vertical sync tearing problem "both confuses and infuriates me" (Futurama). I used BS-Player in the past which had a FORCE display during the refresh interval which solved the tearing problem. However, I can not get BS-Player to work properly now. It plays the formats but the playback waves in and out of sync. I saw a thread about this and will check it, but my question is,

is there any other program/way/or direct draw filter, that can force a redraw during the refresh period?

To clarify, the problems with BS-Player are not similar to those in the earlier thread on BS-Player. The audio stays consistent but the display seems to lag, then catch up quickly, lag and so on. (only tested on DivX 4.12).
