Ok, using dvdmaestro. I have a mainmenu when I click on chapter selection I have a transition from the main menu to the chapter selection menu. Once the chapter selection menu is ready to be navigated, if you hit the menu button on the remote, instead of it taking you to the main menu, it replays the transition. How do i get around this?

thanks

mike

The easiest way to get around this is to ditch the idea of using menus and instead go for buttons over video.

Make two MPEG2 files - firstly the transition, and secondly the menu. Now put both files onto the movie timeline, inserting a chapter point right at the beginning of the menu (your second MPEG2 file). You need two MPEG2 files because Maestro can only place a chapter point on a I-frame.

Now right click on the chapter point, select EDIT MARKER and you can select buttons over video from there. And away you go!

Because you are dealing with movies and not menus, you have complete control over where you jump to within the DVD.

is that how most of the studios do their menu transitions?

im just thinking about that method, and it sounds like an interesting way to create menus, will have to play around with that method to.
