Have you tried using the latest version of dvd2svcd? I notice u are not using the latest version. Also have you checked at www.vcdhelp.com to see if u're dvd player is able to play svcd's. Also if you play the movie with a Software DVD player Like Powere DVd or WinDVD does it freeze then?

Do you have playback problems with other SVCDs? If you do, are the playback problems on other people's encodes too or only on SVCDs you have created?

What settings you used for the encoding? Have you checked your maximum bitrate with Bitrate Viewer? Did you select SVCD subtitles? Did you make your SVCD with two audio tracks? How did you burn the CD (software, speed, burner, media used)?

I' pretty sure a software player plays it OK. Check the encoded mpg bitrate with Bitrate viewer (download link on vcdhelp). My guess is that the bitrate is locally too high for your player (I've noticed that even if I choose VBR max 2550+160 audio, CCE sometimes creates an mpg with a peak bitrate over 2800 kpbs, which is too much for my Philips DVD 622 -> freezing, especially if I used SVCD subtitles)
