View Full Version : MPEG-4 encoding with DiVx 5.0

Hi,

I am looking for help with how to produce MP4 files with DiVX 5.0. If I used the "create a file.divx" on the first screen it procude a file with no sound that I can only play with the divx player.

Also, converting an AVI file to MP4 (third page of the codec) also produce a movie with no sound.

So, how can I add sound?
Can I Demux the sound and remux it after? if so, how?

About DivX 5.0:

I must say I am pretty amaze with the codec. I manage to fit a very good quality TV capture movie (125 mins) 480x360 resolution (4:3) at 600 kbps (filesize was 650 meg). I used pre-processing (ligth), B-frames and GMC options. I am sure I could fit a (16:9) DvD rip at 640x360 with same bitrate and still retain good quality. There was no block patterns, not even any visible pixelisation around text.

I need to know more about MP4 cause I heard there is a chance DvD players will support ISO MP4 in the future. That would be great!!

fraid to tell you that you can't add sound to mp4 files yet. Its been mentioned in the news section of doom9.

You gotta adhere to pretty strict rules when using the MP4 converter, ACC or CBR-MP3 audio only, and not muxed in by nandub either

Has anyone tried to convert an avi file already with audio to an mpeg4 file?

I have taken AVI with standard MP3 tracks and used avi2mp4 and got the whole thing converted with sound just fine. -> Sample with Xvid encoded video http://interface.darktech.org/files/clip.mp4

Take a look at http://mpeg4ip.sourceforge.net

The only problem that I haven't solved yet is how to add subtitle stream...
