Hello again

I just made an encoding sequence (95116-98233) of Gladiator using uManiac´s XviD.Alpha.12.03.2002.0800.Rar

Settings: all standard

704*304 Precise bicubic (A=-0.75)
Motion search precision 6 – Ultra High
Quantization type MPEG
In 2nd pass Int. Luminance masking on
Desired file size 19800Kb
Encoded file size 19300Kb

704*304 Precise bicubic (A=-0.75)
Motion search precision 6 – Ultra High
Quantization type H.263
In 2nd pass Int. Luminance masking on
Desired file size 19800Kb
Encoded file size 19300Kb

Comments:

At both Quant. MPEG and H.263 there is a bug (big green / white macro blocks in the lower half of the picture), and after to seconds the player crashes.

So you used DIVX FourCC?
Change it to XviD and see if your problems persist...

@Koepi

I used XviD FourCC both times. I just tried the one at http://nic.dnsalias.com/ and it made the same, (white and light green noise in the buttom and then crash).

Could you try downloading and installing:

http://nic.dnsalias.com/xvid.ax

This is the original (no post-processing) filter

Please try that (make sure its installed & running before posting)

Also you could try un-installing DivX5 (people have commented on some weird effects when having that installed)

If none of the above works, then it is a core problem I guess ????

I tried last night to do a 12 minute cartoon with the new core and it decodes fine with the XviD filter (the one in my package, no post-processing). Quant type H.263, motion search 5, Luma masking off, otherwise similar settings (lower res). I'll have to try motion search 6 and luma masking and see what happens.

I just uninstalled DivX5pro and XviD, then booted.

Installed Koepi´s old build XviD-0732002-3 (has so far been working ok), then encoded same sequence of Gladiator (95116-98233)

Settings: all standard

704*304 Precise bicubic (A=-0.75)
Motion search precision 6 – Ultra High
Quantization type MPEG
In 2nd pass Int. Luminance masking on
FourCC used: XVID
Desired file size 19800Kb
Encoded file size 19300Kb

Encoding went perfect!

Then installed Nic´s XviD 12/03/02

Settings: all standard

Motion search precision 6 – Ultra High
Quantization type MPEG
In 2nd pass Int. Luminance masking on
FourCC used: XVID
Desired file size 19800Kb
Encoded file size 19300Kb

The encoding made the same error as before, white and green noise in the bottom and then a crash of the player.

I have made a frame sample if anyone is interested I will send them an email.

Nic´s new DShow filter is developing very nice, and is having no problems in playing other XviD encoded material (including the original one (no post-processing) filter).

So I think it is a bug in the new core

Keep up the good work

Sofus :-)

I can confirm that I am having a similar problem, but the horrible Green,Blue,Pink macroblocks cover the entire picture (not just bottom half) Mplayer crashes soon after.
Tried opening in vdub and causes crash of vdub too.

New core crashes on me, when I encode with lumi masking. At least in quantizer mode, haven't tried any other yet.

I've divx5 pro ad installed if you think it makes any diffrence.

I think I have nic's cvs binaries, from 09:46:34 Mar 12 :)

Same problem for me:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20115

I'm gonna try with Lumi mask OFF in 2nd pass, because i saw that everybody who's got bugs used it, maybe this comes from it.
See you later (about 2hours)

I've just tried 2-pass with lumi masking, didn't work either, so I guess the lumi code is still broken.

Ok, my encoding just finished, and everything turns nice again :)
It seems that the luma mask is broken in the new core.

Man...i forgot i changed the motion search precision too...6 to 5.

Then maybe it caused the bug too, but i bet it comes from Lum.

PS: i'm gonna try Nic's build, with and without Lumi mask

I also tried the new version, both Koepis and Nics compiles.
- Crash when playback, both with xvid and divx ds filters, both wmp6.4 and 8.0. Also crash when loaded in VirtualDub.
- tried to fix the file with some divxfix and stuff, plays a little more with mostly bad blocks, green areas etc

+ One good thing though - encoding was noticably faster, from ~20 fps on my P4 1.3 to between 30-40 fps!

Looking forward to a more stable release. Great work guys!
I'm sure these bugs are only minor issues from the change in core.

The lumi-masking bug has been fixed by Isibaar, but the CVS is down (xvid.org host got rooted - rebuild is scheduled).

I never use lumi masking, hence I have no issue with the new core. The only time I ran into problem is using Nic's previous DS filter with the new core; It complained about wrong API was used and crashed. I unregistered the old xvid.ax, registered the one from the new core, and reboot PC. All is well once again.

I included a description (hopefully helpfull) the Avi and the Statsfile.
The Zipfile is 3.3MB.

The XVid Filter is crashing WMP and Virtualdub. With divx FourCC the Playa gets screwed but didnt crash.
