I use DivX5 and XMPEG and my computer is an AMD TB 1400 @ 1600 (i.e. XP1900+). I get only about 10FPS@"2-pass first pass" and 13FPS@"2-pass second pass" when I encode my PAL movies. My config is the following:

**XMPEG**
Aspect ratio IN: 16:9
Aspect ratio OUT: 16:9 (I whant it this way for the movie to look OK on my widescreen TV)
iDCT: Miha's x87 Reference iDCT
Audio: Direct tream copy (I make only DivX-AC3 movies)
Format: RGB
Filtering: Bressenham

**Codec**
2-Pass
GMC + B
prox. 1800Kbps
Res: 720x540 "Bicubic Hard"
RC: 10-2-2000-10-20
Performance/quality: Slowest

I'm a quality freak as U can see from the bitrate so I don't want to gett higher FPS if I have to make the quality worse. My question is if some of my configurations can be changed so the FPS will go up but dont affect the quallity that much.

Change from RGB to YV12 for more speed.
Why do you use so high resolutions, a smaller one like 480x384 or
640x480 is enough for the matrix of any TV.
For me, i prefer higher bitrates because I hate this blurry, one
colored areas in the movies.
Yet tried 1-pass-Quality Based (100%) or an even smaller max. Quant.
for better Quality (only useable in smaller res. for 2CD rip
with AC3).

Many movies can be compressed with 100% at 480x384.
