Hi there,

I just tried to backup my first dvd to an svcd. Before this in only recorded from tv and collected everything as divx using Flask and VirDub but know I need an SVCD.
I am using:
PIV 1.5GHz, 512MB RAM, Win2000Prof
DVD2SVCD 1.0.7 b4
CCE 2.50 with patch for Checksumerror
and I tried to backup a 90minutes movie.
The preferences were done as in the DVD2VCD-Guide at doom9.org (no interlacing just one audio track)...the rest of the Settings can be found at http://www.xnedra.de/download/info.d2s, because in don't won't to put it all into this message...could be a bit long. :)

I just wanna know, if it is normal with these settings and this computer that the process takes about 15 hours (with CCE taking most of the time at speed 0.936. :( )

Thanks a lot and just ask, if i forgot to write something down.

Hi Xnedra,

welcome to the forum. It is difficult to tell the time CCE needs to finish as it depends on a lot of settings. As what I can see from your *.d2s project file you're doing PAL with no deinterlacing and the default settings with SimpleResize.

Usually, the speed should be a bit higher with your system but this dependes on the programs running in the background and the chipset and so on.

There was a lengthy discussion in the forum about CCE speeds and improvements just do a search with the wors "CCE AND speed" or something like that - and please read the "Welcome" sticky and the FAQ if not already done because there are also examples on CCE speed to find in there.

Greetings,
Gerti

Hi gerti,

thanks for Your answer. I will do a search for CCE and speed when I return home from the CeBIT. I read the Welcome sticky and the FAQ, but I coult not find anything there about the process lasting that long. I did some searches through the forum (did not try 'speed') but could not find an answer.
So...I will post once more next week, if I can't find an answer.

Thanx,
X

Really quick answer as most of this gerti67 covered and you should find tons of info on a search.

1 PAL slower then NTSC
2. Downsample 48-44.1 usually not needed unless you are playing on an SVCD only player.
3. You could have needed some optional, but automatically set, ways of encoding that will slow you down a ton.
4. If you checked TS you will slow way down
5. If you deinterlaced that will slow you way down

If you want us to give that encoding a once over post your DVD2SVCD_log.txt file using cut and paste. That will tell us what options, if any, were used.

For future reference get used to posting your log file. If you have a problem that is about the only way we can tell what exactly happened. Don't worry about it's length. I would rather see it and it not be needed then have to wait for you to respond with it. Faster answer that way.

So from reading your post I do not have to downsample audio 48-44khz.

Should be a big increase in time to create my svcds if this is the case.

I do NTSC DVS...

Thx,
PK

Why don't you read the Q + A. It wasn't written for our health.

Q14: Do I have to use downsampling and convert 48 to 44.1?
