I am currently able to output DD 5.1 to my AV reciever, but I must select SPDIF output everytime I want to play a Divx/AC3 movie.
My current config:
700Mhz Cel. / VIA
Win 2k (SP2)
GeForce2 MX
Fortissimo II (optical to my Rx - Denon AVR1602)
Latest Nimo CODEC pack (Full install)
Doom9 Audio Filters
Media-box Player and/or BSplayer
Is there a registry key I can set to defalut Intervideo to SPDIF out? The procedure described in the "AC3-Q&A" does not apply to my case, becasue I did not install WinDVD(installed Intervideo from Nimo CODEC pack). Therefore, I do not have the ".../SOFTWARE/INTERVIDEO/WinDVD..." key in my registry. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance....:)

Simply create the required directory and the key. Or much easier, install PowerDivX and in the player set SPDIF and your done with your favorite player

Thank you, sir...I will try that out as soon as I get home. I have one question though; assuming I already have PowerDVD installed (which has an SPDIF enabler), should setting its audio out to SPDIF enable AC3 pass-thur for Divx movies played on different players that don't have the option to enable SPDIF inherently (i.e. Media-box Player)? Or is it necessary to load a player that will associate a Divx file to my Intervideo settings(i.e PowerDivx, as you suggested)?

Didn't I include the registry hack in my AC3/SPDIF FAQ? I swear I put it in...
Hmmm...seems like you should still see the registry key even though WinDVD isn't installed on your system. Perhaps your AC3 filters haven't been registered properly?

You must certainly did include a reg. hack :) ...which I used. :) I will check to see if my AC3 filters are registered correctly. So, if iviaudio.ax is registered correctly, it should create the (...intervideo/windvd/audio) key or does the hack do that? Also, if the filters weren't registered correctly, wouldn't that prevent me from passing AC3 DD to my AV Rx?
One thing I did fail to mention: the only way I was able to access the Intervideo filter, while using Media-box Player, was via right-clicking the DivX-G400 (in Nimo Pack v4.4) system tray icon that pops-up when I play a movie.

My first thought was you wouldn't hear AC3 at all if the filters weren't registered as well;) The hack doesn't create the registry key, I'm not exactly sure what created it for me to be honest. I'm always uninstalling/installing various filters for testing so it's hard to say. I can tell you that I've never used Nimo's pack, just always used Tsunami's for some reason since it worked. I suspect Tsunami's filter pack might be creating the registry key, just a guess because I can't really test it ATM.
Media-box Player? Never used it before. Did you try using ZoomPlayer, BSPlayer or PowerDivx? All these players allow you to access the InterVideo filter properties.

I have tried all those players and they work great. I like Media-box Player because it is a part of an integrated browser/player package called Media-Box. You can find it at media-box (http://www.media-box.org)

I added the ".../Intervideo/WinDVD/AUDIO" key manually into my reg and it worked. I can now play movies in DD5.1 without having to enable SPDIF out first via Media-box player. :D
So to recap:
-I have a full Nimo CODEC pack v4.4 installed
-registered doom9 filters
-added "H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Intervideo/WinDVD/AUDIO" DWORD key with a HEX value of 6.
-enable "PowerDVD Audio" under "Digital Output" of my Fortissiom II configuration program.
-PowerDVD installed (came with sound card)
With this config everything is gravy...thanks for all your help :p

:D :D
Thx for the feedback. I'll make a note in the FAQ you had to enter the reg key.
